Floor/Trolley Jack

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Probably not the right area but oh well...

I'm looking to get a low profile jack to work on the 205 with, as the old team mechanix's one has been a goodie but its now a pain in the butt.

i've been having a look around and have no idea as to what i should be looking at. I know i'll need something that has a min height of at least 100mm as the pug is lowered.

Are the repco ones ok? It's not going to be a daily used item, i would like something thats not going to weigh 2 tons either as i'll be transporting it down to tracks/paddocks....

idea's?

My Repco ones have been awesome, l only use them once a month though.

I want a super low profile one for when im working on the E30 but they are ultra expensive and for the little use it will get not justified.

Repco Powerbuilt jacks are nice, simple and do the job, I got mine for cheap as chips on spec.

Still have to lift the car up slightly before it fits under though lol.

Yes, +1 for a super low profile one if possible!

Jacking up the front with the standard jack just to get the trolley jack is a tad tedious. I'd buy one that could be as low as 50mm in a flash!

I use a Wayco Super Low, from Repco, it's excellent. Has dual pistons, etc, etc.

Best to find a friend who is staff. Staff price is absolutely ridiculous.

I have the W1001. The AutoOne price is very close to what I paid. Good value imho. The maximum jack height is awesome too.

Moktar's one is a LOT lighter though! I can barely barely lift mine.

[starts to make wishlist for stuff he wants/ 'needs' ]

Cheers for that, will send you a PM shortly. :)

While I find this useful, ironically enough I was going to post a similar thread for axle stands- I know they just, well, stand there propping up the car, but then the Super Cheap ones have had heaps of safety recalls, and I just can't rate the Powerbuilt ones after reading about their tool quality... let's face it, if the worst happens, it's not like you'll be taking them back now, is it?

TWL have an offer on Torin jacks, any other decent brands?

PS Apologies for the thread hijack!

I have a 3 tonne powerbuilt one. A lot of use over th last 8 months. Works well, but heavy, and goes high. Not the fastest jack though aha

My dad has a powerbuilt I think, it gets used frequently (He's restoring a 1948 Chevrolet Loadmaster)

But a low profile one would be good, His jack can't fit under my front apron....

Also, since the load peice (the round bit at the top) just pulls out, he bought a peice of 7mm plate and a bit of rod, to sit where the round peice goes, to assist in removal of gearboxes....

sh*t, didnt see this thread.

Will price some up tommrow for those interested.

Can get a AMPRO (I think) 3 tonne jack for under $300, I bought one for myself through work, gets a bit of use and works sweet. Cant remember exactly what I payed for it or the specs but will get them tommorow when I go into work.

80mm is the lowest it goes, which would fit under a "super low" king spring'd E30 and E36.
