My engine is poked!!

Hey guys just spoke to the mechanic and my engine needs a full overhaul

(round $5000) the rings are gone so its bottom end. :banghead:

i am thinking of just getting a second hand engine to chuck in for now what do you guys reckon.

keep in mind i am going to be moving to Austrailia at the beginning of 2006 (just over a year away)

But the rest of the car is mint had interoir recovered in the original bmw uphostry

Had car resprayed. and numerous other mechanical problems fixed. all in all ive spent alot of money on it.

keep it and slam in a new (better) engine

What did you think was wrong with the engine before you got it looked at? I'd suggest getting a second opinion on the engine from somewhere else, mechanics are downright dirty liars that'll screw you over first chance they get

Rings usually aren't a problem with bimmers, have you put your engine through hell and back???

But yeah, you'd be much better off doing an engine swap which is quite easy if you can find a matching replacement, and considerably cheaper

its done just under 260000kms so im guessing that it is close to a rebuild. also the guys at bmworkshop looked at other possible problems first i trust their judgement.

i mean i was being charged $230 per tyre for my new set, i had a 10 minute call around and got them down to $169inc and fitted, with a alignment thrown in for free......

for the same set of tyres??
