CPU-replacements

I was wondering if it is easy to replace any of the cpu's if they are already programmed?? Ive takin to a "Certified" BMW repare enter and it seems like that they are only reseting the error codes, and my car will run fine for a cpl of months then the same problem occurs again!!

I understand that. What are the codes and what are the symtoms ?

Is it a DME, EGS, ABS or ASC fault code ?

coming up DME. The mechanic said that i would need a new cpu!

on my dash it is saying Engine false safe mode-and the symptoms are cutting off and hesit

Are you in Auckland ? If so I could check it for you. Cutting out and hesitating sounds like a AMF sensor to me if thats what the symptoms are.

No im in Baltimore MD. So u dont think its the CPu?

No I dont. It would help if you could tell me the actual fault code from the DME. It should come up with the fault on the scanner. If there is no fault code, you need to check live data and read the air mass Kg readings to see if they are in scale. Normally a faulty AMF will throw an Oxygen sensor fault (out of scale) AMF kg readings should be between 14-16 kg at idle and full load should give you a minimum of 500kg on a V8
