bekker 7 Report post Posted August 2, 2009 (edited) (Sorry title is meant to say loud, not lous!) Hi Car is 1988 E28 525ee. When braking suddenly I feel and hear a loud thump from the front suspension (somewhere up there) when I first hit the brakes. It's making me a bit nervous. Lower control arms recently replaced but it was doing it prior to this as well. Any ideas? Cheers Edited August 2, 2009 by bekker

Forrest 35 Report post Posted August 2, 2009 ^ I would check the carrier bolts that bolt to the strut, IIRC you just painted your calipers so make sure you torque them up to factory settings, even use some threadlock, I have had the same problem too. antil33t 90 Report post Posted August 2, 2009 Could it be the Center Hanger driveshaft mount? I thaught it was brakes when mine went.

bekker 7 Report post Posted August 2, 2009 Could it be the Center Hanger driveshaft mount? I thaught it was brakes when mine went. I'm pretty confident I can feel it from the drivers if not both front sides of the car. I'm also pretty confident it's in front of me. Cheers.
User Name 19 Report post Posted August 3, 2009 I would agree with above - check everything is torqued up and not missing any bolts - and make sure your suspension brushes etc are screwed Cheers
