1rotty 40 Report post Posted August 3, 2009 Guys,my 98 740 has the hydraulic boot system.(as opposed to the soft open/close setup) The hydraulic piston has obviously been leaking but after turning the car into a bomb site I cant find the pump and/or reservoir. Your help is eagerly awaited.
*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted August 3, 2009 Its behind the inner guard liner in the boot, on the R/H side above the battery. Make sure you use the correct fluid for it
1rotty 40 Report post Posted August 4, 2009 Thanks Glenn.I found it this avo after I discovered the open button & heard the pump. Next question-how do you top it up-I'm assuming the reservoir is the white "bowl" on the left? Can it be done in place?& do you know the required fluid. Cheers Mark

What are you going to top it up with though? Be careful what you try and use.. the lift motors cost over $1,000 Edited August 6, 2009 by *Glenn*

*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted August 6, 2009 Thanks Glenn.I've found the fill instructions so will try topping it up before I get a kit. The kit is the only way you can buy the oil. I was going to suggest using cabriolet hydraulic oil, but no one can tell me if its the same. I have about 50m of the proper oil left in my top up bottle if that will help. You might need more though
