bravo 35 Report post Posted August 13, 2009 I'm a Skipper/Senior crew at Bay of Islands Coastguard. On Tuesday I had the unique opportunity to be involved with a combined exercise with the Navy and Airforce in Whangaroa Harbour up north. Was an interesting exercise and got to practise a lot of skills that we don't get to practise all that often. Thought some of you may like to check out a vid one of our crew made. The Helo is one of the Navy's Seasprites. The boats are various. There were 2 8.5m Rayglass Protectors. One with 300hp, the other with 400hp four stroke yamahas. There was a 8.5m Naiad with 350HP of 2-stroke mercuries. There was a 9m 500hp AMF, and then a smaller 6m vessel that I can't recall what it was. Can't wait till we get our new boat in September - 10.2m Naiad with 650hp twin jets.

bravo 35 Report post Posted August 13, 2009 lol. Boats were all coastguard's. Navy supplied the chopper. Airforce supplied extra crew and organised it with the local CG unit. PS If you noticed the hp of our new boat change its because I was going off the advertising brochure until I found the build sheet. It was a heap of fun. Only complaint was I'd have happily stayed out there training for a few more hours, but the chopper crew had to disappear after an hour or two so as there was nowhere local to refuel.
