4hp22, why does it?

Recommended Posts

Ok, can any one tell me 'bout a relatively easy fix for this?

For the last 2 years if i want to drive my car i have to let it warm up for a good 5 min' before it will change out of 1st.

Seems to be a pretty common prob' with the 4hp22's.

This only happens when i start it for the first time ie: the next day/couple days after last drive.

After it warms up it's fine, changes well, goes into reverse sweet. Doesn't slip, fluid smells fine and isn't low.

Just really gettin' pissed off now.

Yes i know a manual swap would fix it but as i've got project BELLICOSE on the go i can't be f**ked havin' 2 cars in bits.

Often caused by a sticking governor, typically the "warm up" period before it begins to shift normally will slowly get longer and longer until you will only be left with first and reverse. Try changing the fluid might help , but usually only buys you a few extra km's.
