I had to jump the car tonight. Once it going it was fine till about 15 mins into the drive i slowed to stop (clutch in) and it cut out.radio started to sort of cut out too. It didnt restart. Even with a jump it didnt restart?

any ideas? dead battery? alternator?

thanks

Alternator ? was the battery light on ? A knackered battery that wont accept a charge will do the same. Still only guessing... needs to be checked

Only things i can think of at the moment is the alternator finally wearing its brushes out, or maybe the battery is shorting out on the bonnet. (unless its in boot) or could even be the starters brushes shorting to earth? Not very likely to be that though. Bad connection where the earth strap is from chassis to engine.?
