c.robertson00 11 Report post Posted August 28, 2009 Why are you changing to 51mm struts?
Guest FrantiC Report post Posted August 28, 2009 (edited) All you really can use from your old struts is the brake discs.. that is if the struts are complete with hubs. Pretty much a direct swap.. They are bigger and stronger and fit larger front shocks. Edited August 28, 2009 by FrantiC
grantdavis28 8 Report post Posted August 28, 2009 I was going to buy some 51mm front shocks but have since got bilstens in struts from Ray. Can't wait to get them installed. They are in mint condition. Thanks Ray.
djs325 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2009 You can transfer brake caliper mounts, calipers, pads, rotors, but the damper (shock) insert is a different thickness. Not sure if the springs/top mounts are all the same. Would highly recommend that you use the change to 51mm struts as a chance to put 2 brand new front hubs on. changing from 45mm to 51mm all i need is the struts themselves i can use everything else off my 45mm struts? also if anyone has any 51mm struts lying round give me a pm!
