vyking56 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2009 The owners manual calls the fluid "life-time" - but I'm thinking the BMW definition of life-time differs from mine! My 10 year old 540 has 113,000km on the clock. Is it likely to need its transmission fluid flushed and replaced? I understand it's not a simple procedure so don't want to bother if it's not needed. Car is going in to a garage on Monday for some bits and pieces so it would be a good time to get it changed... if it needs it.
*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted October 29, 2009 (edited) You do filter, pan gasket and fluid at 100k. If the wiring loom socket and the gearchange shaft seals are leaking you do these at the same time. Your local garage probably wont have the correct fluid. Take it to a transmission specialist or the dealers for this. They will have the correct fluid. Edited October 29, 2009 by *Glenn*
