which wires do we cross over out of the old auto shifter plug so it thinks its in neutral....

have tried several different wiring combinations but it wont start still.

Have looked everywhere for the bloody answer but no deal.

look behind glove box, You will see a black wire with yellow stripe. (thicker looking)

It has a plug on the end of it and goes to a relay for the neutral switching.

All you need to do if unplug the relay (both ends) and plug the yellow black wire into the other yellow back wire.

You should be able to see what I mean once you have removed the glovebox and theres no wires cutting required to do this.

however you will need to join wires near the shifter to get your reverse lights going

Cheers for that guys, I had it right the first time but it was another issue deeper into the electrics causing it to not start so took us a few hours to get it sorted but its one of those things that you just need to keep trying every possibilty until you find the problem unfortunately.

Not too bad though we got the conversion done in 2 and a bit days between two of us. Max (E30affair) will no doubt have some photos up shortly of his immaculate e30.... JEALOUS.

Thanks again
