Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric blitzes the field!

Recommended Posts

Goodyear’s Eagle F1 Asymmetric has the blitzed the field in the 2009 Australian MOTOR Magazine Tyre Test, convincingly taking out the title as Australia’s best performing road tyre. MOTOR tested seven of the most popular 245/40R18 road tyres and four semi-slick tyres in a comprehensive testing program at Sydney’s Oran Park Raceway. They used two Audi S4s driven by V8 Supercar driver Warren Luff.

The Goodyear tyre scored 131.4 points across all the test categories, almost a full 17 points ahead of the next best performed tyre, the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT.

“The result was an excellent reflection of the tyre’s superb handling capabilities in all conditions, particularly in the wet, as a result of its unique features designed to suit all types of conditions,†Goodyear & Dunlop Tyres (NZ) Ltd marketing manager Jamie Stewart said.

“This tyre introduced a revolutionary Active Cornergrip and Racing Compound technology to provide improved braking, cornering and handling in all conditions and the results illustrate its effectiveness.â€

“While the Eagle F1 Asymmetric results in the dry were great, the tyre scored even better in the wet. It was a compelling demonstration of the excellent grip and control provided by the asymmetric tread design.â€

“They are fantastic results,†Jamie said. “Goodyear’s tyre technology just keeps on improving, with significant advances being made by our engineers in construction design and rubber compound development, delivering ever better tyres to the market.â€

Na Pirelli’s are at least twice as good because I have a set..

Impressed with the new Good Year, the GDS3 won the wheels test convincingly a few years back also.

Disclaimer: This tyre test was brought to you by Goodyear and Audi. Goodyear tyres were compared against the leading tyre models from such well known and reputable manufacturers as Ningnong, Pingpong, Langalang and Doohard.

Driver Warren Luff, of the Goodyear Race Team (and sitting board member and chief test driver for Goodyear Australia Inc) gave a fair and independent appraisal of all tested tyre models and miraculously his lovely wife Linda and children Shayne, Wayne and Hadden were simultaneously released from the State Police holding cells where they were being held for questioning on suspicion of sedition.

All in all, a great day for Australia and tyre lovers everywhere.

Just jokes ;)

According to a Monday press release, Goodyear is creating a new tire that will not only monitor its own pressure, however will re-inflate the tires as needed for maximum safety and performance. I read this here: Goodyear develops a tire that inflates itself. The business has not mentioned a time frame when the technology will be available to consumers. The business has dubbed the new system Air Maintenance Technology, or AMT.
