E30 Power Windows

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

The motor on the rear of the car is poked.

i have some replacements that i'm trying to install.

But for the life of me, i can't seem to remove the whole power unit assembly or regulator.

I've tried to remove the glass but there is no way i able to remove the 2 screws that hold the glass - its pretty tight!

Ideas...

Cheers

Dont know if this will help but when I did one I didnt(read couldnt) take the glass out but using a cutdown torx tool (like an allen key)ie shorten the short end,was able to get the regulator out.

It is a huge pita & took ages but perserverance & booze won the day.

PS Wedge the window fully up if you can.

there are 2 bolts on the top, 2 at the bottom & also 3 bolts holding the motor.

can't see any torx screws anywhere.

i managed to get all bolts bar the one top on the left hand side. they're 10mm nuts.

i've given up for now...grrr

Haha you're right-that was another task-call it a senior moment.

What I actually used on this was a small 10mm open ender with both edges ground down as far as you can get away with.

This allows you to slide it in the very restricted space.

You need to take the glass out before the winder rail will come out cos the top of the rail needs to poke out the top of the door slightly before it will feed out the bottom large hole in the door
