flake 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2009 (edited) hello again quick question: do i need to replace the sump gasket with new when i re-fit my sump? i'm doing an m50 converison on my e30, and the e34 sump that is used had a crack in it which i have just gotten back from being repaired. when i removed the e36 sump, the gasket stayed attached/stuck to the block and is pretty well on there. that seal will be fine i just wonder how the gasket to sump seal will be. is there a gasket sealant i can use or do i cut my loses and buy a new one. and where do i get one on a sunday morning ? cause depending on the whether, hopefullly i can get it in tomorrow cheers edit: typos everywhere Edited December 19, 2009 by flake
e30ftw 410 Report post Posted December 19, 2009 You NEED a new gasket. They are only supposed to be used once. Once they have been compressed and sealed, they are useless. So unless you wanna have a leaky oil pan I suggest you scrape the old gasket off and get a new gasket with some gasket sealant too for it too.
