sticking the battery in the boot in a 320i..

Recommended Posts

I can't find much on the subject, but I am converting the battery to the boot on my 320i e30, have run a cable to the back etc mounted a terminal in the engine bay. I didn't get a battery tray and clamps when I bought the conversion stuff so I will probably get a battery box of trademe or something...

But anyways what are people bolting the ground strap to? I see there is no place to bolt it down like you would find on a 325i anyways, so what can I do?

I'm thinking getting a longer strap and sticking it to one of the bolts of RSM is a bad idea? Or would that do fine?

Or is there somewhere more convenient?

Can you not bolt it onto the boot hinge mount?

Only other place I can think of other than RSM. If you want that plate with the nut on it I can get mine out and send it to you. Obviously need to weld it.

I can't see anywhere up where the boot hinge mount is?

I see the end of the rear bumper protrudes into where the battery sits, Maybe I could use that as it will be touching chassis around it?

If need be I will weld a bolt or whatever but trying to avoid that if I can..
