Accelerator pedal removal 89 535i - E34

Hi, We would appreciate some help please. We are removing the wiring loom for the auto gearbox. Part of this loom attaches to the kickdown mechanism which is under the accelerator pedal. We cannot work out how to remove the pedal. We have looked at an exploded veiw of parts and have also consulted Haynes and Bentley manuals. Thanks.

The kickdown unscrews, there is no need to take the accelerator pedal out to do this. just unscrew the kickdown switch

also if you do want to remove teh pedal its a pain and they some times break.
