Heater Blower Resistor replacement E34

Recommended Posts

Hi, The heater on my 535i only works on two speeds. Full bore or off. It has a variable speed switch. I have been told that the resistor probably needs to be replaced. Can someone please point me to a parts diagram which shows exactly where this little sucker is. Also what would be a reasonable price to pay for a replacement? Will a non BMW part do the trick?

I have looked on the web and have found a youtube video which claims to show this proceedure but my anti-virus protection doesn't like it <_<

I have removed the centre consol to expose the wiring. Any help appreciated thanks.

you have to remove the lower panel thats above the pedals and the plastic air duct vent pipe.

its right up tight runs pretty much across the back of the heater box .

held in with 2 small torx screws .

very tight to get it out some times if you trim the plastic panel a bit to give you more angle when fitting the new one back in .

sorry bmw part list pics dont show the right hand side where its mounted .

just remember its the drivers side not behind the glove box as per lhd cars

and some cars have a micro filter in there too so have to remove that first . maybe pick up a new one .
