tire 10 Report post Posted March 19, 2010 Righto. I'm going to be doing an m20b25 rebuild soon too (not the touring motor btw), maybe with 2.7. Watch this space!
Guest Simon* Report post Posted March 23, 2010 Woohoo do love a good 2.7! Don't stop there, keep going and try for 3.1 or so like Andy's racecar. That's one seriously quick M20!

tire 10 Report post Posted March 23, 2010 Ok ok yes after a good long chat with G-banger today I think 2.8 is more likely. WHO BOUGHT DANS 2.8 CONVERSION KIT? Oh and I visited Bob at Balancing specialists, going to go for around 7kgs on the flywheel for the touring (which is staying 2.5)
*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted March 23, 2010 WTF is G-banger ???
mr E34 11 Report post Posted March 23, 2010 (edited) The 2.8ltr is a sweet build but why not go for the real pwr/trq? Tweaked or tuned M30b35 of course. http://home.online.no/~krimp/sweb/photo_alpinabB6_3_5s.htm Edited March 23, 2010 by mr E34
tire 10 Report post Posted March 23, 2010 M30b35s are harder and expensiver! I'm rubbish at making bits of metal into different shapes of bits of metal etc

tire 10 Report post Posted March 28, 2010 Did ya end up doing a write up? Im going to take on doing this conversion shortly Still not finished, uni and lack of tools keeps getting in the way! Hope to have it finished on Tues. I've taken a couple of random photos but not much. I'll do a little write up later but in the mean time just pm me any questions. Make sure you have 25 inches of extension to get at the bellhousing bolts, a torque wrench and torx sockets - e10, e12 and e14 are what I've had to use. @Ari - yep. See my showroom thread for shiny stuff. How light did you go?
Matty104 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2010 Will look foward to your 2.8 write up. and would be good with approx costs, (when you get around to it)
Top Secret 2 Report post Posted March 28, 2010 I second the extension comment, you can never have enough. I just managed to strip the clutch cover bolts even though I had the correct torx tool.. Grr..
antil33t 90 Report post Posted March 28, 2010 (edited) I had to go buy a heap of Extensions, and I was a few inches too short... Thankfully my Sisters Boyfriends dad had some <.< Then I got her boyfriend all oily and she moaned ;D +1 on the 2.8 Swap, saw a video of one on youtube... went very well Edited March 28, 2010 by antil33t
tire 10 Report post Posted March 28, 2010 (edited) I had to go buy a heap of Extensions, and I was a few inches too short... Teng do a 20 inch 3/8th drive extension. I bought one from AES on Friday and I've used it heaps over the weekend, its also good for getting at the top nut on engine mounts, getting at thee pedal box bolts, using as a breaker bar with a universal. Love it Connecting up a whole bunch of extensions gets too flexy aye. Edited March 28, 2010 by tastic

Yeah, it was quite annoying had to tape them up to get them as stiff as possible. Edited March 28, 2010 by antil33t
Nobimmer 694 Report post Posted March 28, 2010 Maybe it's all this talk about 26 inch extensions

Im not taking it on for a couple more weeks gotta wait for the new motor for the car to arrive and for the car itself lol But will be connecting the motor and box outside of the car which should make life a bit easier for me I would assume
