mtk540 3 Report post Posted March 30, 2010 It's late at night and I've left my E39 540 at work in the carpark. Scenario: Got dropped at work tonite to pick up some reports I'd left behind that I needed to read for tomorrow. Meantime my wife and son went to Macca's for an ice cream and came back to pick me up. I was running a little behind so they sat in the car watching the TV. Must have been only 10 mins. I came out, noticed the tail lights were on but thought nothing of it. Jumped in, turned the key. CLICK CLICK CLICK (fast rate), OBC was flashing, kid was crying, no motor turning over. Calm down, deep breathe. Turn off all aux stuff, lights, aircon. Turn key - CLICK CLICK CLICK (still at a fast rate) "F@#K !" "What was that Dad?" said the 6 year old ? "Nothing buddy..." Waited 5 mins while wife rang her sister to come into town to pick us up. Turned the key, OBC didn't light up. Not a good sign CLICK CLICK CLICK (till at a fast rate) "F@#K !" "I haven't done anything!" yells the wife "Are you angry Dad? What's Mum done?" whimpers the six year old "Nothing buddy...." trying to remain calm Home now, son's now asleep. Will call AA when I get to work to see if it is the battery. I'm hoping that's all it is. I've spent $5k+ this financial year on repairs and tyres already. My fellow directors are giving me sh$t about European cars and jokingly want to dock my salary for being over budget this year. Any other ideas ???? Glenn ? Ray ?? Brent ??? Jochen ???? Had the heater resistor hedgehog replaced 6 months ago (well known cause of current drain if faulty) - could it be this again? Heater is being a wee bit flakey but fan is not running after shut down. Will check back in morning before I get lift in to work.
