Just needing everyones opinion if i should tow a car from hastings to auckland or if i should just go borrow a trailer and just get it myself.

Also if you know any good cheap towies that can do the job please let me know or if theres another way of getting it up.

The trip down to hastings from aucks is around 500km one way and the towy will cost around $400. What do you reckon is more worth doing?

Also the car is just a rolling chassis and engine is not running yet..

A car with a tow bar and a trailer.

436km each way, you could do there and back in a day, easy. Hit the road at 5am, avoid all the Auckland traffic, be there for lunch, return at your leisure.

I doubt a tow would cost just $400. From Waiwera to Glenn's cost around $270.

Hire a hire pool tandem trailer and get a grunty tow vehicle, plenty of hills between Akl and Hastings.

That will cost close to $400 $300 ish anyway, a tow will cost more as it's not mobile and it will have to be transfered from the Hamilton - Akl truck etc, and will take a few days.

I had a car transported from Hamilton to P North that was a truck swap even, and vehicle running add 50% to cost if vehicle not running.

Best to get it your self or make some phone calls.

FWIW, if you are towing, then use an A frame! 500 km's is too far on a rope! Rolling chassis = no brakes, so if were me I'd either get a specialist transport firm (Jeff's??) or hire a decent SUV and tandem trailer. The transport firm probably can do half a dozen vehicles in one trip, so this will minimise the cost - a towie = one vehicle so carries all costs........ My 2 cents worth.

Yeah its a honda. Rolling chassis and is hell cheap. Plus i still got an engine sitting in the garage so might as well..

Or you could ring Shady's mate at transpro services.

Funny read that.

Is this a transport firm like bikerchris is talking about?

http://www.captaintransporter.co.nz/index.php

I've not used their services before, but someone on NZhondas has and said it was good and reasonably priced. There's an online calculator too (but no Hastings listed)

$291+GST from Napier if the car is drivable

Bad thing is the car isnt drivable. Its pretty much rolling and has no wind screen and no wof so i doubt the guy would risk getting it up to Napier. $291? Thats cheap as, might try see if i can get it towed to Napier with a proper towy. Bad thing about the whole towing thing is that i cant personally see it as many have said. And pics can be deveiving...

Also if anyones in the know of a good mate that knows things about cars and is willing to check it out please pm me.
