Apex 693 Report post Posted April 27, 2010 (edited) Renaults have factory rattles for no extra cost. A car is only as new as the parts fitted to it, like a good pare of jeans some ware better than others. Cant beat Brand New. kiwi535 538 Report post Posted April 27, 2010 a high mileage car that shows its been well looked after is no problem. However a car that is described as a stuffed interior and a broken bumper doesnt sound like the above description....my view.At 147000 ks my 535 was pretty mint.At 260 odd ks its in just a good condition in all respects with a complete service history. Forrest 35 Report post Posted April 27, 2010 Personally, I think a car becomes worth scrapping if the price to fix it (assuming there is something wrong with it) outweighs the price to buy another one exactly the same. Did this when I crashed my E30, the price to get it back the way it was worked out more than a replacement, so I replaced it.
tibbs.james 1 Report post Posted April 27, 2010 Sometimes its not about the odo reading because the car is good and tidy and runs well. sometimes it matters a LOT more for resale and financial reasons. There is no rule of thumb.
cliffdunedin 8 Report post Posted April 27, 2010 I'm so glad someone has said this, totally agree. Hey. i'd be pretty stoked to have had a list of cars like that...so, why not list them up? IMO there's not alot of difference in comparison to the car porn thread or other threads where owners like to show their cars off. my 0.2!
Guest Simon* Report post Posted April 27, 2010 Hahaha this thread amuses me My 540 has over 400k on it and I'll keep driving it hard until the engine blows up. Then I'll drop another one in and keep driving it Bits and pieces have been replaced along the way and since I sorted the glovebox and the clips holding the door cards I get no rattles. I'd own it over any Commocoon of any vintage and any number of Japanese cars. Mondeos are soulless boring POS's too. Haumoana Hoon Mark , I like that

M325is 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2010 Im sitting on 185000miles (297000km). My car drives better then ever as it got reconditioned 2 years ago. You can always breath a breath of fresh air into a car no matter how many km. Unless its cracked or warped of course.
