Parabolica 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2010 (edited) Afternoon, My Saffa 89 325i has the usual long range tanks fitted. I have filled it to the brim a few times however now im trying to see how accurate the gauge is. The gauge shows empty ie in the red however the range comp says i can still do 300kms. When i fill it up it says 800+ on the computer reading which seems to be accurate. Does anyone have any thoughts as to whether the bigger tank distorts the gauge or is my computers range miles out of wack or is it indeed correct? My next option is to put some fuel in the boot and drive it till its empty however I would like to avoid that. Cheers Edited April 15, 2010 by Parabolica
bravo 35 Report post Posted April 15, 2010 I have a SA car with the long range tank, fuel gauge, and OBC, and mine reads fine. Does your gauge on the cluster read correctly? Next time you're in the red press the 1000 button and the 1 button simultaneously. It'll give you a fuel reading in litres. When my orange fuel light comes on I generally have significantly less than 10l left according to the OBC. OBC fuel reading is only accurate to ± a couple of litres, but it gives you an idea. Guest Ari Gold Report post Posted April 15, 2010 My OBC fuel reading only goes as low as 4L. I've got the extra tank as well, OBC seems to be more accurate than the gauge!

bravo 35 Report post Posted April 15, 2010 Computer range is based on you fuel consumption figures and the amount of fuel left. I'm trying to figure out if it's your OBC or your dash gauge that's playing up.
