*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted May 6, 2010 (edited) It's quite a common problem. The oil filter remote housing gaskets leak on M40, M43, M44, M50, M52, M54. The gaskets are cheap, the labour to do the job varies on engine type. To do yours, including cleaning out the housing and resealing the gallery plugs is quite easy. The early model 6 cylinders have press fit plugs which are not easy to do, however yours has threaded gallery plugs and its alot easier, should take 1.5-2 hrs to do. The gasket ("O" ring) costs $10. The vanos hose might also be leaking. Rocker cover gaskets, sump gaskets and dipstick breather hoses are other common problems which will cause oil leaks.
