medium case diff?

hi just wanted to know what a medium case diff was? i know what a diff is but just wandard why you call it a medium case?

probley a real stupid question but if i dont ask then i dont know lol

BMW have 3 diff sizes, small medium and large case.

Small case has 4 bolts holding the side covers, medium has 6 and large has 8.

Small and Medium are your options in an E30, either will do in 99% of cases, if going for a lot of power probably medium is better.

also you dont really find lsd's in small case diffs. and yes if you are going for lots of power or abuse then med case is the way to go, the spider gears in small cases break easily... ask me how i know...

If you go medium case its also best to replace the axles with the M325i axles as these are stronger and have larger joints.

not sure i would have to run them just yet as im still running my m20 b20 lol realy usfull to know thanks
