ED1RTY 2 Report post Posted May 27, 2010 Just looking for ideas.. Pretty keen on a 4WD, 3.0 plus, Petrol, with about 13-14k to spend. Been looking at yards mainly, want something with a warranty.. Want to be able to know my investment isn't going to f**k out in 12-24 months and I have to pay $$ to fix it. Boat with trailer and gear weights i'd say around 1600kg, so i'd need around 2000kg tow capacity? So far the Isuzu Wizard LS looks like a good choice.. Plenty to choose from and they are a nice looking truck (As good as those trucks can look!? ) Just wondering weather or not the 2000+ model that has an electric switching 4WD diff. Where as the older 1998/1999 have the manual Gear lever type. Are the electric switches as reliable? If there are any car dealers in here and 4WD's are your forte please PM me or post here Cheers Chris.. This looks good... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-291756480.htm Opinions? kingkarl 136 Report post Posted May 27, 2010 That looks like a bloody nice truck for the price and kms. I have no actual knowledge on these types of cars, but I know a couple of family friends with older Isuzus that were a bit marginal when it came to reliability. They were diesels however, and completely different models. If you are quite concerned about reliability, I haven't heard a bad thing about hiluxs/surfs (has anyone). You wont get as many gadgets or comforts as the Isuzu, but they'll go for ever and go places the Isuzu wont. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-290880875.htm For the price though, that Isuzu looks pretty unbeatable. [email protected] 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2010 (edited) I would suggest to buy a Hilux 4x4 and fit it with a Lexus V8 and manaul 4x4 gearbox. Easily done for 14k It will give you the most power over anything else for the money. (250-300hp / 350-400nm) Will keep going for a long time. Will hold it's resale value. Will sounds good with a well designed exhaust. Rather economical. Etc Edited May 27, 2010 by Mike-E36

_ethrty-Andy_ 2132 Report post Posted May 27, 2010 My mate had an Izuzu VX (google it. awesome looking truck imo, you either love it or you hate it though) that has the same engine as your one. from the passengers seat it felt pretty ballsy. He had to sell it due to fuel economy though, at a shocking 15L/100km after a tuneup/work done by an Izuzu specialist iirc. would imagine the extra bulk of the one your looking at wont do any favours to the preformance, and only worsen the fuel economy.... +1 on a lexus/hilux
