m50 intake for m52 engine

Recommended Posts

I heard that M50 header has a better airflow characteristics than M52. But M52 has a better stock "out of the box". And we can increase performance by fitting M50 header into M52. Can anyone shine some light onto this one?

Any help is much appreciated.

Yes, I believe that is true. I can't name a race team that made this mod to their group N race cars. But it is meant to improve the engine.

I am led to believe that it is more about the peak flow capability of the manifold.

As always, any gain in one point will generally mean a loss elsewhere. i.e. you may get more peak horsepower, but lose some torque in the mid range.

I'll make some call to see if I have got the story straight.

M50 intake manifold flows better too, or more correctly, the non vanos one. They'll all bolt up.

Want a hot cam? Chuck the intake cam on to the exhaust side, and get an E36 M3 intake cam.

Change intake

S50 exhuast manifold

Injectors

New Software

M3 Cams

Conical valve train

You can pull 230-240hp out of the 2.8's without too much trouble
