sascha 17 Report post Posted August 9, 2010 So last week i got a few emails from trademe, saying if i click here and sign in they will put my e30 listing on the front page for a day for free! I thought this sounded good, i mean why not? Anyway i couldnt get into my account, and i rang them up and they told me that email was a scammer who now has my password. I had to confirm my details and change password. Today i couldnt get in again, and i rang up and they said the same happened again! Had to change my hotmail and trademe passwords again. Then i checked my credit card and $150 had gone out to trademe! Anyway i got my account sorted and logged back on, and saw that in my "UNSOLD" part there were auctions for an Audi S4, WRX, and an EVO! Just thought id share, watch out. Trademe told me in their emails they will ALWAYS address you by your first name. Now hopefully i can get those $150 back.
cliffdunedin 8 Report post Posted August 9, 2010 I guess a good reason not to save your credit card details to TM as well, did TM say they will refund the fees?

_Matt_ 42 Report post Posted August 9, 2010 no one should ever ask for details over email. Just don't do it aye
sascha 17 Report post Posted August 9, 2010 Yeah, trademe said they'll sort out the money. Yeah i know i should never give details over email, the email just had a link to a trademe look-a-like site, and i just logged in as normal! not as obvious as you might think.. bravo 35 Report post Posted August 9, 2010 Her phishy, phishy.... That's pretty devious. Also a good reason to have different passwords for each site. The problem is remembering them all!
deeveus 81 Report post Posted August 12, 2010 There's so much of it going on at the moment. I'm getting 1-2 emails per day at the moment stating that one of the auctions I've viewed was a scam. They need to restrict access to NZ&AUS imo.
