nickchin1308 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2010 Hey guys, my E39 came up with a warning check park lights this morning and found out that both the 'angel eye rings' on the passenger side of the car is not working. I m wondering where do u guys go for the cheapest bulb and also could this be a wiring problem. Cheers Nick
M5V8 337 Report post Posted August 15, 2010 most likey blub, good chance to update to LED! I picked up these http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-310906491.htm super happy with them. Awesome upgrade over factory..... Not sure where you would get a factory blub, or how much they would be but I would say more than the $100 for the LED's
Smac01 12 Report post Posted August 16, 2010 (edited) Alternatively, I have two spare bulbs for E39 Angel eyes (from when I upgraded to LEDs). Let me know if you want to buy one, or both, off me. Good to have a spare. EDIT: You can pick these up too if that's easier (I work in town, live in Grey Lynn) Edited August 16, 2010 by brunch

M5V8 337 Report post Posted August 16, 2010 BMW will probably charge $100 for a single new blub.

Smac01 12 Report post Posted August 16, 2010 (edited) Yes, 1 bulb per side. The LEDs on TradeMe are $100 for a pair, which is all you need. Note, the seller is out of white and only has blue left. Blue won't be legal. Hey guys thanks for all the offers haha Hey M5V8, the link on trademe u showed, those 2 bulbs are they all i need? Is it 1 bulb per side of the car? allan 295 Report post Posted August 16, 2010 That buy now price on those led's for the halo rings is not bad. The standard factory bulb is only 5 watts and must not be stepped up or you will start to melt things inside your head lights. The difference from factory to LED have a look The one's on trade me look like they are plug in and connect up to orginal wiring which is great no splicing. Nick just out of interest what year is the e39 up 2000 I think they tend to throw warnings at you when you do mods like this, all the diagnostic stuff they do behind the scenes. Cheers Allan

M5V8 337 Report post Posted August 17, 2010 (edited) Hi Nick, Yes these are plug and play (2min job) and so far haven't thrown up any error messages on my OBC. Plus they look wicked good, a real nice intense white light. simon's right.....But don't go blue! unless you want attention from the blue brigade and issues come wof time. Let me know if you want my old blubs at this point I wouldn't go back if these don't last I will go for Ultizma's or whatever they are called. The plug is the one in the centre of your headlights. Blue won't be legal. Checked with TradeMe seller, he's expecting white ones within the next month or so I believe. Doesn't expect them to sell out fast so shouldn't have trouble snapping up a pair.
