gouba 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2010 I replaced the indicator unit on my e30 coupe today as my old one was pretty shot through. Anyways the unit looked in good condition but it still doenst return after I have completed a turn. Is there some particular way that it should have been installed? Is there a particular way the plastic tab should have been set initially? Thanks in advance
hotwire 352 Report post Posted October 23, 2010 Has the steering wheel still got the bakelite striker peg in place?
gouba 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2010 It's what? Obviously I am missing something
hotwire 352 Report post Posted October 23, 2010 It's what? Obviously I am missing something Take the wheel back off & check for the black bakelite rim that has a peg protruding - this is the striker to cancel the switch. It may be broken off.
gouba 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2010 Anyone have a photo of what this looks like? If it is broken off i'd like to replace it
Shady 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2010 I think mine is broken off or half worn down as mine only flicks back 30% of the time. I just have a habit of flicking it off myself.

gouba 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2010 It has the ring and the black plastic tab, maybe it is worn down then? Will have to have a play
hotwire 352 Report post Posted October 24, 2010 They don't wear down but break if the wheel is mishandled while off. As I said - take the wheel back off & check - it is pretty obvious as to how it works once you look at it
