318Touring 40 Report post Posted November 7, 2010 Just signed the paperwork for this, however will still have wife's 318 Compact. It's a 2003 996 Carrera 4 cabriolet with hard-top, fully loaded, ex-UK / Japan, black on black. Will do inspection next week, with a view of picking it up next weekend. Will post some more pics when I actually got it. This is just a teaser.

deeveus 81 Report post Posted November 8, 2010 Bloody nice, is it a manual or tiptronic? Is it the standard 4 or the 4s ? Must admit, after owning the Boxster, I've always wanted a 996. Enjoy!
cliffdunedin 8 Report post Posted November 9, 2010 Awesome!! I was never a real fan of Porsche cabs (particularly Boxters) until my parents neighbour bought one of these a few years ago. looks really good with the roof up or down!
318Touring 40 Report post Posted November 9, 2010 (edited) Thanks. It's tiptronic, which the sales guy showed how to use properly, scared the s*%t out of me as we were going very fast round the Basin Reserve. It's a C4. cliff, been looking for vert, since cabriolet Porsches have more headroom at the back compared to coupe, and I need to transport 3 people. Also there are less of 911 cabs on the road, making this one more special. I'll post more stuff when I actually get my dirty little hands on the car, which is this Saturday. 318Touring 40 Report post Posted November 9, 2010 Johno: Dang! Those alloys are nice! I'll keep that in mind, those fit the car really well!!! Chris: Went through Mt Vic tunnel, but it was busy so couldn't really hear anything. Would have to do it at early morning, maybe Sunday morning before those SUVs filling up the road again. 318Touring 40 Report post Posted November 9, 2010 The Tce, good idea. I assumed as it's much bigger then the sound won't be contained as in a smaller one like Mt Vic. But it's a 80k zone, I can slow down to 20k at the start of the tunnel then let her rip!!!! That's not a driving offence, is it? As long as I keep it 80 and no wheel spin (4-wheel drive + PASM so it's unlikely).
kinetik 4 Report post Posted November 9, 2010 (edited) Depends who sees you. The very open to interpretation boy racer laws specifically prohibit "unnecessary exhibitions of acceleration". I think you mean PSM (stability/traction control). PASM is active suspension. Edited November 9, 2010 by kinetik

M5V8 337 Report post Posted November 9, 2010 (edited) Mt Vic just has too much traffic these days but get it at the right time and the acoustics are MUCH better. But for safety's sake Terrace outbound is the place to floor it if the muppets stay in the left lane. Sweet car Dan. Gotheschu 1 Report post Posted November 10, 2010 Dang! The law is always open to interpretation! Oops, one letter too many. You're right, it's PSM. Get a decent radar detector. A stealth one so if they get made illegal you can still have it hidden in there. =) Means you can do whatever you like and unless it goes off the cops have no proof you did anything =) Mean car, would look even better with Jono's 997 reps. M5V8 337 Report post Posted November 14, 2010 Haha love it!!!!! Valentine one FTW!!!!!! Has anyone noticed that the V1's dont pickup camera vans anymore???? Whats up with that? The new digital speed camera vans have moved back to X band. You may have locked this out as there is alot other traffic on this frequency.
deeveus 81 Report post Posted November 15, 2010 The new digital speed camera vans have moved back to X band. You may have locked this out as there is alot other traffic on this frequency. I noticed this too. X band is disabled on mine I think, comes up saying X band off on startup. So if enabling that it should work again?
Guest Si Vis Pacem Report post Posted November 15, 2010 Has anyone noticed that the V1's dont pickup camera vans anymore???? Whats up with that? It's the polarisation of the beam. It's phased 90 degrees opposite to the radars the cops use therefore you have to turn your current detector vertical to pick them up. This of course means that you will no longer be able to detect conventional radar so what you see a few people doing is to have 2 units mounted on their dash, one vertical, one horizontal.
