chriszzz 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2010 Hey guys, havent been on in a while but just asking for some advice for my old mans e39 540i. When just driving normally it is fine, no problems at all, around 78,000kms always serviced etc. ocassionally when giving it a bit of a boot (often mtrway onramps and stuff) the revs limit to around 2k and error comes up "engine failsafe..." turned it off and on again and it once again drives fine, no problems at all. took it to local euro mechanic, who said it had an "unknown error" and that he had cleared the error, however this is still happening. Have read on other forums what it could be and checked all fluids etc, and the strange thing is sometimes I cant replicate the problem, ie foot down red line, and it doesnt happen, it is completely random however it only happens when there is a lot of throttle. any advice guys? or can you recommend someone in Auckland that can at least find out whats going wrong, it drives completely fine otherwise.
