Help! Rev, Power and Brake problem.

Recommended Posts

I have a 1992 320i

Everything has been working fine until I started the car (at mall) today.

Heard a little knock at the front left of the car (could have imagined it)

The car idles up and down up and down every second, There is hardly any power whilst driving. The brake pedal is quite stiff. And to brake i need to apply quite a bit of pressure. The Auto trans doesnt recognise that im braking and wants to keep going (at traffic lights) so i have to put in neutral, where it revs hard out. (even when im driving)

I've googled the problem and searched this forum but cant find a similar problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm pretty mechanically minded but dont have a clue about bmw's.

Thanks

Vacuum leak. A rather large one at that. My guess is either brake booster line has come off, blown brake booster, or the idle control pipe / connector has come out / broken.

Where abouts are you?
