e46 heater fan not blowing

Recommended Posts

Hi, not sure if this is the right place for this.

My dad's e46 heater fan has stopped working... simply does not blow out air, no matter the fan-speed setting.

Its as if the fan itself is not getting power.

Have done the obvious - checked fuses... any other recommendations?

How do I get to the fan unit itself?

Thanks very much in advance!

Yup it will be the final stage resistor, Exact same thing happened to mine a couple of weeks back. Its a common fault with the E46's, You could get one off of Brent or Ray but being second hand who knows how long it may last.

I bought a new one from the dealer, very pricey but at least it should give me no problems for quite some time.

Here is a link to the DIY of replacing one on a rhd

If you're in auckland go see gavin at euro-italian (sponsor) he may be able to get one cheaper than a stealer.

Thanks for the link to the DIY explanation - that will be hugely helpful!

Will get my hands on a new part and try and tackle it this week
