matt45 1 Report post Posted January 5, 2011 i have heard if the radar is set to auto lock you dont have time to respond. radar can be detected before the cop sees you, laser is the one that's harder to avoid hence the use of jammers.
M5V8 337 Report post Posted January 5, 2011 (edited) i have heard if the radar is set to auto lock you dont have time to respond.Depends on how far away they are and how good your detector is.If they turn on as they see you then no detector will help u there. If the are switching on and off then hopefully a good detector will pickup the pulses off other cars & surrounding topography and warn u. If they drive down the road with it contstantly on a good detector should pick it up easily and give u plenty of warning. Laser is a different kettle of fish as its very directional, hence people use of jammers Edited January 5, 2011 by M5V8
diablo23 1 Report post Posted January 5, 2011 I've got a v1 valentine and been using it the past week while I've been blapping all around the country and its definitely saved my ass a few times, the rang with the ka band is great you can spot cops a mile away you just gotta be careful because the new vans are using k band which operates at a lower frequency so the v1 wont pick it up till your much closer and I'm not to sure on what range the vans can detect your speed at tho
RvT 9 Report post Posted January 5, 2011 I imported about 6 x V1 some time ago for friends and a Bimmersport person a couple of years ago. It is interesting to note that 3 of them ended up getting stolen out of the people's cars which does say a bit about the risk associated. Because my beast has a factory option of windscreen heat reflectors, the V1 didn't work and its sensitivity dropped by 50% = bad news for me. I shopped around and bought the Escort 9500ci on ebay US & did an install. I was an avid V1 fan until I tried this. It has equalling response to the V1 BUT it has GPS as well which means the false signals are learnt by the machine after 3 successive hits so less false signals long term. What I do love is the STEALTH feeling and that fact I don't have to remove the detector every time I park the car. After 2 years I haven't had a ticket yet which is the ultimate test. Driftit 2078 Report post Posted January 5, 2011 Here we go. http://www.youtube.com/user/veilguy This guys vids are testing all the jammers active/passive and different ways to catch you. Ex-Cop. He rips the passive jammers to bits. They DO NOT work as previously stated in this thread. The Jammer in my fathers Merc went off again yesterday on the Souther Motorway by Mt Wellington. So I counted to see when it turns off. Is around 5 seconds. Quite a long time though.
