buddynz 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 Just bought a BMW Compact 2002 E46. Took it to the dealer to see if clown nose(under mirror) could be made to blink when locked. They got the indicators to flash on locking but no clown nose blink when locked. Anyone had this done by a dealer. I dont have a BMW alarm fitted but talk on net says it can be activated but ChCh BMW says it cannot? Also any one know a way to adjust auto headlight sensitivity apart from the three factory settings. Mine are coming on too early but are already on the least sensitive setting
shadowninja 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 Hi buddy, I have an E46 with that huge clown nose under the rearvision mirror. It certainly blinks intermittantly when the vehicle is locked & alarmed, but are you trying to get it to blink when you press the 'lock' button on your remote? (... and if so why would you want this?) Can't help with the auto lights, personally I wouldn't pay extra for this feature either.
buddynz 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 I want the clown nose to flash when the car is locked to deter the people who break into cars in ChCh( a regular occurance sadly)
BMW POWER 2 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 I think if you wanted that to happen, you'd probably need to get a BMW alarm (factory one) As for BMW saying it won't be possible, i know i'd rather believe them than people on the interent, because after all they made the cars, so they know everything about them. This is kinda random but we brought the E39 from CHCH BMW. They are quite a nice bunch aren't they. Especially the Manager, Mel, and the Mini man, Scott. Welcome to bimmersport by the way. We hope you enjoy your stay.
Carl 3 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 because after all they made the cars, so they know everything ...about them. hahaha, dribble Don't put too much faith in people BMW in München make BMW's and know everything. People who work for BMW centres in NZ may not know jack about them. Parts people are the only ones I talk to when I ring up but even then there's some very valuable information you can get off the internet which the BMW person won't know. CaM 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 word, everytime i've been into jeff gray's in palmy, they seem to only be parts fitters, sending anything vaguely difficult out to an outside workshop it seems.... the parts guys may only know what the epc tells them, which I hear the BMW one is vague and gives you options of everything (isuzu one rules hard), not filtering out which is on that vehicle, and there wont be any schematic drawings, just exploded pics, you have to find out tricks from fiddling with stuff - OE workshops are never prepared to do that... I work at an isuzu workshop.... doesnt mean I'm mr Isuzu.... Internet is a great place for information, and more commonly, porn... whilst waiting for that filthy midget porn vid to download next time, do a search on some decent forums, there's a wealth of information out there, you don't have to take it as gospel though... read a few tech articles/posts and get the general consensus.. shouldn't be too hard to rig up something that will work it, :thumb:
