gearbox id

Recommended Posts

How do you or even if you can ID a gearbox.

Got a ZF cheap but dont know what it came out of. Its an overdrive version. I know there are markings on it to say what it is and the ratios but not what it came out of. Was told it came out of a 525 early 90's.

hope you didn't pay much for that .

it looks like its from a e28 1984 520i m20 engine

very early anyway with that type of gear shifter mech

is the distance between the top 2 bolt holes about 140mm then its a m20 type box

if its 120mm then its a m30 m10 type box

maybe a e28 525i 528i 1984 m30
