E24 635

Recommended Posts

Hi Y'all. saw an ad for a 635 '86 or so, bit short on details...

Heads off it, interiors mint, body could use TLC.

Sounds like me!

I love these cars, I assume they got pretty much the same running gear, panelling etc as the e23?

But then I'd have to discard the e23 I've been working on... Cast off like an old girlfriend in favour of something new!

Head off etc, is an opportunity, to get a head made up, with cam to match.. The possibilities.

The e23 is near roadworthy, just speedo and rear seal now, then back over the pits!

Everyone's allowed to dream right?

Saw an e21 2 door 323 around the corner, but it's rusted out, pass on that one.

The e30 is being passed down to my son now. My daughter's bf has an audi she can have...

Thoughts comments,

Should I buy it? Maybe I should sell the e34? buy a X5 anna K1000?

e24 body panels are different from e23 e28 etc .

only some electrics or mech parts might be the same ,.

later e24 like 86 has the same runing gear , suspension . brakes etc as a e28 535i etc .

engines are easy to sort rust is not .

front wings $1000 plus each

I've been looking into this, later e24's are an e28 base.

So how much difference is there from e28 to e23, a 535 M20 is the same as a 735?

The running gear is much the same.

The rust I can deal with.

I looked up for sales on these, $8k for a roughie to $30k for a minter, with prices varying in between.

Have to pull finger and relicence old Messerschmidt! no room for 2 cars in the drive, or the garage.

There's plenty of spares USA, forums there, people are parting them.

I'll have to go see this car, now I know a bit more about them.

But to keep it original. or to 'hoon' it up a bit?

yes e23 735i e28 535i and e24 635csi m30 engines all the same , excpet in OZ they will normally have the low compression usa spec'd engine 8:1cr 184hp (not good) as in nz , south africa and european and uk etc have the full fat version with 218hp 10:1cr etc.

early m30 3.5L engines are sleightly different from 1978 to 1982 etc ,

but the 1983 onwards are the ones to get

if you have to you could use a e34 535i or e32 735i engine but they are 211hp 9;1cr and require some mods to the engine mounts etc
