bimmer boy 21 Report post Posted June 29, 2011 (edited) Hey guys, I was driving the E46 yesterday and noticed that when at idle the engine will occasionally drop its revs really low and then stall. It doesn't happen all the time just every so often regardless whether the engine is hot or cold. It stalled twice this morning on a trip from Remuera to Herne Bay which is probably only 15km in distance. I will probably take the car into Jerry Clayton BMW later today to be scanned and sorted out but just wanting to know what your opinions are on what the fault could be... The engine is a M43TUB19. Cheers fellas. Edited June 29, 2011 by RJS

Shanetp 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2011 Check all the Vacuum hoses, this model is seems susceptable to perished hoses. Had this exact same defect and hose replacement solved it. Also can be the Idle Control Valve, it can be cleaned. The UK forum has some good 318 m43tu info.
