sp8s 1 Report post Posted September 13, 2011 Got a squeeling noise coming from the front of my engine (M44) Thought it was the idler pulley for the drive belt. Greased that made, no difference. The other night I started the car noise was there and got louder when I turned the headlights on. MMMMMM Now Im thinking it may be the alternator bearings. Noise only there at low revs - idle and just above. What say you?

Jono51 59 Report post Posted September 13, 2011 Belt tensioner bearing ? +1... surpentine belt, cyclone valve, vacuum leak, tensioner, idler, waterpump... could be a number of things best to take it to your local specialist before you replace many parts that you may not need
