Gunner 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2011 Hi, I've decided that I've had enough of the chrome trim around my door windows. Im looking for a DIY of how to remove the trim on a sedan and also what type of primer and paint should I be using? The tutorials I saw were for coupes which people say are quite different from sedans when removing the trim. Cheers

The tutorials I saw were for coupes which people say are quite different from sedans when removing the trim. Cheers I'd say it'd be easier to mask off the area around the trim, properly. Tape/paper the rest of the area over-spray could get to and paint the trim while it's on the car. Then you won't bend anything or break any clips. The trim will only need a light buffing with a high grit paper to give it a duller scratched appearance (good tip I learned was to sand until the surface wasn't "shiny" at any angle...) wet-sand again with 1000+ paper, wax and grease remover before and after sanding, primer if you're anal, paint, wet-sand, paint. Beer.
Gunner 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2011 Thanks for the info. I'll give it a go later on. Just gotta make sure I have all the right stuff and a claybar for afterwards just incase of any misspray.
