BBS RS - Taking apart

Recommended Posts

Guest Andrew

Well the wheels I got off Glenn for 15" BBS RS - the three peice ones. Question is - after HEAPS of banging by gus (heh.. heh) it won't separate. Can't tell if it goes out or in to the lip.

Thanks to gus for modelling.

damn my west didnt turn out

most things respond better to the banging than that....the only prob i could think of is the old crusty seals could be sticking it all together

just for info, the only sockets you need are 8mm and 10mm....they normal sockets (well normal as in the ones with more stars, not the normal hexagonal jobbies)

looks like they go inwards, if at all..... to me they seem lie a fairly ham "2 piece replicas" in that the centre doesnt look like its seperate at all???

can i ask, why are you trying to take them apart?

They are 3 peice - and most definately not replicas. How only earth would they be 2 peice replicas when they are already taken apart.

To paint the center and get the lip polished again is why I'm taking them apart.

I only worry about sealing it all together again - I wonder if BBS still sells seal kits for them. I hope it still holds air after all of this.

Yea they do. 6.5"? Somebody got joo'd.

Get some 2" lips on the rear at least!

Andrew, people pay close to 100bux for them to be taken apart, maybe for a reason?

Glue has to be pretty strong, obviously, dunno what they use to release the seal.

Remember to "lace" them back up properly!

an oven and a mallet should do the trick .

Looks like "fun" hrmmmm.

You may need to press the center out of the rim??

I'd imagine there would be a fair amount of old sealant/glue in there too.

I would be too worried about sealing them.

When you get your 2" lips from Kodiak Racing I think they provide new bolts/sealant and instructions.

PS. Don't get the centers powder coated, bead blast the old paint off & a nice 2 pot paint job!

Also dropping the car another 20mms. sacked henna mtech1 on bbs rs

They will look fantastic against the red/orange of your car, especially when the lips are polished.

Top effort guys.

my company/daily driver has impressed me once again.. not only does it do 510 k to 45 bucks of gas.. but it fits a whole mtech1 bodykit in (which the 5 series struggled to do).

what a grouse beast!

packed the kit in the car to take with me down to tauranga to get painted.
