Wheels - diameter

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I'm not sure of the rules behind changing tyre diameters.

Basically found some 16's that im keen to put on.

Looking at changing the 195 x 60 R14 for some mags which currently have 195 x 45 R16's

Only problem its going to change from 182.8038 cm to 179.0954 cm.

Which is roughly 2% difference.

Just means your speedo will read fast, so you are less likely to get a ticket!!

205/50 R16 would be a better size, maybe when you wear them out.

Have you checked the offset & centre-bore??

I think you're legaly alowed to go 2" bigger in diameter on your wheels.

They tryed saying something to me before i had a cert when i went for a wof with 17"s :bounce: on my e30, al i did was went to the tire shop they gave me a document saying they are within 5% of the original fitted wheels so sweet as.

cheers matt

Whats the deal when theres different sized tires available for your car, the E30's had either 195/60 or 195/65. Does it just mean you got a wider selection of tire sizes?

Wow your really ballooning there. Hehehe, there quite chunky, you doing a bit of off roading aye???

Try some nice 225x40x17 goodyears.

As for E30stz calculations, yes thats 2inches bigger, funny that, changing from 14" wheels to 16" wheels. hehe.

You guys need to wake up smell the coffee, hehe, go have a shower.

I'm a gimp... never use US websites. Difference in overall circumference is 8mm. My bad, crawls back into hole.
