efp0wa 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2012 Well it happened, just like Glenn said it does. Lock moves ultra freely and doesn't lock doors. So until my full remote key turns up the e46 is hibernating in the garage.
hotwire 352 Report post Posted April 28, 2012 Easy fix, door open (once you can) remove a bung at the open end top edge - to the rear of the lock. From memory an allen key screw to remove & the lock slides out. Get a locksmith who is familiar with them to repair - you or them supplying the repair kit

Lucky enough I couldnt lock the door; rather than not being able to unlock it as I'm waiting for the new full remote key to arrive.
*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted April 28, 2012 If the tailgate doesn't have a lock barrel in it that works, open a window incase the actuator in the drivers door locks the car
