tools needed for once off job

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I need to replace my front crank seal on my 1999 540i BMW M62 V8 engine, I need the crank holding tool, seal removal and install tool and torque angle guage.i already have the tools to remove the fan but need the other tools to do the job right. If any one can lend me the tools for the weekend I will pay for any costs incured, postage etc. I was looking at buying all the tools but dont think there is any need for a once of job and thought maybe someone out there may have the tools after doing there engine. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.or if you know where i can purchase the correct tools let me know, Thankyou

angle gauge can be had from super cheap for $17.37

http://www.supercheapauto.co.nz/online-sto...307#Description

removal of seal should only take a small sharp flat screwdriver to get in then pull out

putting new seal in can be done mostly by hand then taped in with the flat end of a screwdriver or similar to go the final push

doesnt really need the factory tool for that (just lube it with fresh oil first)

Crank holding tool would be the only specific tool you would need

BNT sell them i believe but not cheaply

Dealer or bm workshop may rent them if you ask nicely

Call Dr. Evil at Autohouse European.

He will hire you all the necessary tools.

I hire full cam-belt locking tools for Audis & Locking tools for Head Jobs etc on BMWs etc about $30 most times.
