E39 Amp

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, currently going thru abit of sh*t over a blown amp and the liability of it.

Raxworthys  in CHCH repaired my car. When I picked it up there was no sound coming though the speakers due to a Blown AMP according to their guy, they say it's not their problem and their auto sparky(who had to get another auto sparky in who supposedly knew about BMW's) is saying it's a common problem, everyone I’ve rung hasn't heard of this being a common trouble. All we're getting out of Raxworthys is smug attitude, which is a shame because I went there because of their seemingly good reputation

Only 3 ways I can think of that would cause it to blow

1. f**ked up jump starting

2. Shorted something putting battery back in

3. Welded without disconnecting battery

All of which would of happened in their possession

How much for a replacement amp for my 1996 E39 540i?? (has tv in dash)

Beginning to think it's going to be easier and cheaper to replace the amp myself. At this stage I have to take it to town, pay $65 for removal and inspection of amp and have a written report, then have to go back to my insurance co again over it and go from there.

Cheers,

Andrew
