hanes e36 manuals lack of driveline tech

Recommended Posts

Hi, does anyone know if there is a more informative workshop manual covering the e36 (other than the Hanes auto repair shop manual) that can be purchased readly..

Looking for something that provides good technical coverage on the drivelines of e36 with ZF 5spd man & Getrag's 5spd man's also if such a thing exsists.

Hanes workshop book really only just bothered to touch on the subject in name only!

There lackluster manual for the e36 simply just discarded the topic of driveline repair as being a professional service task only.. bugger that!

I'd really like to know more about the inner workings of them.

really interested to also know how other members have got on sourcing hard to find tech info?

all tips on serching / sources are most welcome!

The Bentley manuals are pretty well the last word on any car without resorting to the factory literature, which is pretty well impossible to get a hold of unless you know someone that works for the relevant dealership. Octane books in Newmarket are a bloody good place to start, but be warned that the Bentleys often start at the $300 mark.

Repco are rubbish with manuals, and I suspect the likes of McMillans will be less than helpful. Google often throws up useful data in the strangest of places but it really depends on how much time you want to waste on trawling through the sh*t before you find gold.

I do have a PDF of the E36 Bentley if you'd like a copy, PM me your email address

Edit: Octane are here in Auckland, their website is usually pretty good but it does pay to call and confirm availablility before ordering

I found the aftermarlet workshop manuals quite incomplete and glossed over many subjects of importance.

the only BMW manuals you need are TIS, WDS (ETM for older cars) and the ETK. All availible online.

TIS

I trolled the internet every day for a full week looking for somthing with that kind of information and got no reward at all, if fact got every other riceboys tech enquires instead.. all looking somthing like mine, 320i to man, 320i conversions, e36 swaps. just those three will find you trolling junk for hours alone..

So so Glad to finally have the info, really stoked.

No probs.

Built a car or two ... This info use to be availble to those in the know or workshop tech but has recently all be put online for the 'older' cars.

I used GT1 which came the TIS stuff when building the s50b32 / e30.

Enjoy
