jjs 64 Report post Posted October 9, 2012 There seem to be a lot of technologically smart people on here and I need some help. I have a Iphone 4 and the lack of reception, calls dropping out and jamming up when I try and dial out and someone is also calling me is really annoying me! I use my phone for calls a lot (battery runs out at about 6pm each day) but also have all of my music on itunes and want to be able to sync my phone to that. My questions: - Are 4S or 5 improved in functionality as a phone? - If I buy a Galaxy (which I hear are better as a phone) can I easily sync my music? camera doctor 25 Report post Posted October 9, 2012 (edited) I have a 4 and my wife has a 4s ....... the 4s has much better reception when held together in the same area. I have a 5 on order, cannot comment on it yet, except that my brother has one on Telecom and says the reception is excellent. If you are in patchy reception areas and are not using data, a trick is to turn off the 3G, and the phone will use the 2G transmitter, and use less battery and may drop out less - certainly works in patchy areas around here. Can you borrow a phone off somebody before you commit ? Edited October 9, 2012 by camera doctor
my_e36 43 Report post Posted October 9, 2012 a trick is to turn off the 3G, and the phone will use the 2G transmitter, and use less battery and may drop out less - certainly works in patchy areas around here. Just note you can't do that if you are on Telecom XT, it's a 3G-only network. That said, I find Telecom 3G has better coverage than Voda 2G wherever I go. Go back to Crockett's question, when my wife upgrade from iPhone 4 to 4S, it does have better reception. Just wondering, if you talk a lot on mobile, why not get a good "phone phone" like a Nokia E-series business phone + iPod for your music.
Smac01 12 Report post Posted October 9, 2012 I just switched from an iPhone 4 to a Galaxy S3. There are heaps of apps to easily put your iTunes music onto your Galaxy. I use "easy phone tunes" which is free.
Tristan 338 Report post Posted October 9, 2012 I have a 4, and my parents both have a 4 each. They're Telecom and I'm Vodafone. Often when I've got 1 bar of reception, they'll have max. I tried Samsungs and hated them. Don't like the shape or size. iPhone just fits nicely. Personally I don't see any reason to swap to a 5, if anything I'll change service providers.
