liyi_92 37 Report post Posted October 31, 2012 Are there any methods which could be done to pinpoint oil leaks? I am leaking oil fast enough that there will always be a few fresh drops on the ground. Valve cover gaskets fixed approximately 1 month ago. Any chance of them leaking again? Also, I have thought about steam cleaning the engine bay but I cannot find any place in Christchurch which are still open to do that. Thanks
hotwire 352 Report post Posted October 31, 2012 (edited) Surprises me that you can't find a place with a steam cleaner. Just get a couple of cans of degreaser, spray on & hose off with nozzle on squirt. I fit is fresh oil - it will come off easy enough. If not - will do with more degreaser & leaving a while to soak in. Edit: Obviously start with a clean engine to be able to identify the source Edited October 31, 2012 by hotwire

I am not confident doing it myself and if anything goes wrong it won't be my fault.
