1995 E34 ews 2 with a 1994 e36 ews1 DME....will it work

Recommended Posts

I know a red label will work but i cant find one around so does anyone know if a normal 1994 e36 320i DME with the ews1 will work in my 1995 e34 520i, iv done all the research thur the net and on here and found real good info just havent seen anythin so far with this dme swap with maybe the wire mods i may have to do.

iv taken to BMW specialist to relign my dme with my key and ews and they couldnt do it either but told me it was to do with the ews and dme.

Is there a chip that i can use , i havent been able to find any chips for my vehical anywhere apart from on ebay which i dont know if they reliable or not.....please help any info would be much appreciated thanx

A EWS 1 DME will only work with a EWS 1 module

A EWS 2 DME will only work with a EWS 2 module

Thats why the other people couldn't align it

Are both motors the same ? M50B20 vanos or non vanos ?

-i think the ews 1 doesnt have a ews module

-thats what i have is the ews 2 module with the ews 2 DME but the BMW place couldnt do it.

-Yes both engines are M50B20 vanos

my car wont start because of the ews 2, that is why im wanting to findout asap if the ews1 DME will go in to my vehical and start or work when i cut the number 4 solid green wire and also cut and connect up the starters wires together which are the number 1 and 3 black/yellow wires on the ews module side
