Any special tricks...

For getting rubber seals to sit flush?

I just replaced seal E in the diagram linked to below:

e30 coupe passenger window seal

So after breaking a piece of the wing mirror interior plate and bending the window trim a little getting it off I get the new one in and it doesn't hug the glass like I was hoping. Also one of the clips doesn't want to hold on to it...

Speaking of clips I left them in place on the door then pushed the new rubber down into place. Are you supposed to remove the clips from the top of the door skin maybe and attach the rubber to them using pliers to clamp them down?

If anyone has done this successfully I'd appreciate any suggestions you might have <_<

Never mind. Fixed this up (mostly) last night.
